Speed up Internet Explorer 6

Internet Explorer 6 has been around for a while and its been a good browser. Since new alternatives like Firefox and Opera have come out we now know that, yes there is faster browsing out there. Internet Explorer can be as fast after trying out a few tips in this article.

Step 1: Default is your friend.

You heard it here first folks. (probably not) Generally setting the browser to its defaults will make it go faster. There are two areas in specific that will make the largest impact. Security settings and the advanced settings. To set these at their defaults go to Internet Explorer. In the browser go to the tools menu and select internet options. In the internet options go to the security tab. In the security tab set all of the zones to default. Then go to the advanced tab. In the advanced tab you will find the restore defaults button at the bottom of the window. Click o it and that's it. Click on OK and restart your browser.

Step 2: Setting the Number of Connections per Session.

Internet explorer limits the number of connections it opens when you click on a link to open an new web page. Microsoft did this to comply with HTTP 1.1 standards but it also really slows down things when you open a new website and download the sites images. So to change that go to the start menu and select run. In the run command type regedit and click OK to open the registry editor. In the registry editor navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER SoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionInternet Settings. Here change the MaxConnectionsPerServer and MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server to a number you wish. That's it, once done restart windows and you are all set. Just a note that this will effect all windows applications that use the internet explorer api so if something else is not working right that is why.

Step 3: Keep less and save time.

Windows by default will automatically set your temporary internet files to a certain percentage of your hard drive. If you have a hard drive that is a 200 gigabytes your temporary internet files will be a couple of gigabytes in size. The more files that Internet Explorer has to look through the more time it takes to load a page. To change the size of your temporary internet files goto the tools menu in Internet Explorer and select internet options. In the internet options click on the settings buttons in the temporary internet files. Change the size to the desired amount (I usually use 100MB) and click on OK. Your computer might stall for a little bit if there are a lot of files to delete.

Its as easy as that. Three steps to speed up your internet browsing in Internet Explorer. I'm sure there is a whole lot more out there but these are the ones that will help you out the most. Till next time.

Manage Your Internet Explorer

You may have notice that after you have downloaded some files or programs from the Internet, your homepage of the explorer will likely be changed. Many people resort to changing the settings of the Internet Options and some will ignore this. But most of them are not aware that the system has been secretly altered until the big errors occur. IE is the eye of the PC users to the outside world, which makes it the most possible one to be attacked by malicious programs. Because of this, you will probably encounter the malfunction of it and have to do something. You have to slow down your pace and take a look at the problems you may meet.

For IE 5, there will be problems caused by out-of-date files, incorrect or incomplete registration of files. You can use the explorer repair tool in the Control Panel. If the repair tool detects an error, it might correct it automatically; in this case, you need restart your computer to complete the repair process. For certain types of errors, if you have received the error message "Internet Explorer 5 cannot be repaired. Please reinstall it", or other errors, it means the above repairs do not help.

Internet Explorer 6.x is very tightly integrated into Windows, more so than other programs. Microsoft does not offer any way to repair it through the Add/Remove Programs control panel. To repair or reinstall the browser you need the Windows CD. Run "sfc /scan now" and you will be prompted to provide the Windows CD. You can complete it by following a few steps. There will be messages if the repair fails.

How To Stop Internet Explorer 9 Errors

Internet Explorer 9 might be brand new, but it still has a large number of errors which will prevent it from working correctly. We've found that one of the main problems for this new version of Internet Explorer is the way in which Windows will not be able to load it up correctly, leading your PC to run much slower and with a large number of problems as a result. If you're experiencing problems with the Internet Explorer 9 application, you have to be able to clean out the various issues that your PC may have - which can be done by following the steps outlined on this page.

The problems with IE9 are generally going to be caused by 3 potential issues, including:

* Your computer will have errors with its "registry" database
* Windows has problems with the Internet Explorer program itself
* Your PC will not be able to access any of the files that Internet Explorer requires to operate

How To Fix IE9 Errors

-- Re-Install IE9 - The first step is to re-install Internet Explorer 9, as this will replace all the files and settings which will allow the program to run. It's often the case that millions of Windows PCs will either have files / settings that are corrupted, or just be unable to run IE9 correctly. To resolve this, you have to be able to fix the issues that it may have, which can be done by clicking onto the Add / Remove Programs applet of this program, and then remove the IE9 software.

-- Update Windows - The next step to take is to update the IE9 program. Updating Windows will basically ensure that all the files and settings of your PC are able to be read in the most effective way. We've found that one of the leading causes of problems for the Windows system is that your computer will be out of date - preventing your PC from being able to access the important files and settings required to help it run. To fix this, click onto Start > All Programs > Windows Update, and download all available updates

-- Clean Out The Registry Of Your PC - Finally, you should clean out the problems that the "registry" database of Windows will have. This database is where Windows keeps all of its important files and options - allowing your PC to store the likes of your desktop wallpaper and even your most recent emails inside. The registry is used primarily to help make sure that your computer is able to run as smoothly as possible, but is constantly causing errors. We recommend you download and run a program called Frontline Registry Cleaner to fix this in the most effective way possible.

Internet Explorer Error Messages Interrupting Your Life?

Internet Explorer error messages are obnoxious and interruptive. "Internet Explorer Cannot Display the Webpage" and JavaScript errors and runtime errors keep you from exploring the content you want. For over 13 years Microsoft's Internet Explorer has consistently provided its users with errors. And the errors just don't shut up. They constantly tell you what is wrong with your browser, your Internet connection, your JavaScript files, your URLs and what's wrong with the content you are viewing. Nothing is good enough.

However, all IE error messages are not necessarily due to the fault of Internet Explorer. IE error message 502 System Overload means there are just too many people online at once, and the system can't handle it anymore. A 400 Bad File Request error indicates that a URL address has been entered wrong. The URL address must have a proper "syntax." If you clicked on a link and an IE pop up error with 400 Bad File Request came up, it's likely the person who entered the link information on the website made a typo. Modifying the URL address or going to the homepage of the website you want can bring your surfing explorations to the web page you're looking for.

There are many Internet Explorer browser errors that can be solved simply by clearing your Internet cache and cookies. You can do this by going to your Internet Options in IE or through Control Panel, and click "clear temporary files" and "clear cookies." When you go back on, you will have to reenter your passwords. Clearing your cache and cookies regularly will also help speed up your browser and your PC. Additionally, many types of spyware and advertising schemes use cookies to track your browsing history.

All Internet Explorer actions - opening the browser, surfing, reading email, and closing the browser - use the Windows registry. The Windows registry controls your browsers, your Internet Service Provider, your hardware and your software. IE will not work without your Windows registry. Your Windows registry also gets congested over time. Everytime you use the Internet, it gets updated. If you haven't cleaned your Windows registry, it's very likely that your registry has too many files in it and Internet Explorer can not communicate to the Windows registry. If IE can't communicate to the registry, then Internet Explorer problems and IE errors will be shouting at you non-stop. You can shush them up with a registry cleaner.

Internet Explorer error messages don't have to interrupt your browsing explorations. Remove-PC-Errors.com has a website dedicated to a reputable registry cleaner than can eliminate hundreds of IE errors and eliminate excess cookies and files that slow down your PC and interrupt your browsing explorations. If you're tired of screaming at error messages, take a quick detour to Remove-PC-Errors.com and keep your error messages quiet for good.

Using Command to Find Out Internet Connecting Problem

If you want to surf in internet but find that you can not connect to network, then how to find out what problem is and then solve it? I will tell you how to.

1. First, make sure that your ADSL modem and ISP account are working; otherwise you should ask your ISP for help. If you connect internet through LAN, then test whether you can connect to the gateway. The gateway is a computer or device which connects LAN to Internet or other LAN. You can use command 'ping' to check, but sometimes the gateway turns off its ICMP response. If it does, you can use command 'arp /a' to see all live dynamic MAC addresses stored in memory after ping. If there is a item which belongs to gateway, that means it can be connected, so the physical link is ok.
2. Second, check your DNS setting. DNS means domain name service. If DNS service does not work, you can not open any website when you type domain in browser. Using command 'nslookup' to check whether DNS server works, type some website domain to see if any IP address return. If it works go to the next step, or you should check you DNS setting. Change your DNS server address or ask for technology support.
3. Finally, use command 'tracert' and the website domain or IP address as command argument to see if the path through your PC to the destination IP address is ok, you can watch each hop information through IP packets transfer. If it stopped in a step, then check route setting about this hop, solve it and check again.

How to Undelete IE History

Trying to undelete your Internet Explorer history in Windows 7 means you must make a difficult decision. Recovering deleted history requires you to perform a system restore. Although this will return your history to what it was as of the backup date, it will also restore all other programs to that same date. You could lose important drivers and downloads, although you will regain your Internet Explorer history. To successfully undelete your history, you must know a date range during which you visited the websites or the date you deleted your history.

Instructions

Save any open work and close all your programs. A system restore will reboot Windows, so any unsaved work will be lost.

Click on your "Start" menu. Select "All Programs," "Accessories" and "System Tools." Click on the "System Restore" icon. Alternatively, click on the "Start" menu and type "System Restore" in the search box. Click on "System Restore" under "Programs."

Click "Next." Select the recommended restore date or choose "Show More Restore Points" to select a different date. The date should be after you visited the websites you want to review but before you deleted the history.

Click "Next, " then "Finish" to begin the system restore. Click "Yes" when asked "Once Started, System Restore Cannot be Interrupted. Do You Want to Continue?" Once the system restore is complete, the computer will automatically reboot and you can search your newly restored Internet Explorer history.

Internet Explorer Security Warning Help

Internet Explorer is a web browser program that is produced by Microsoft. Explorer has become one of the most popular web browsers in the world and as a result, has been the frequent target of hackers. Explorer has had a multitude of security glitches that have been exploited in the past. If you get a warning popping up on your screen regarding Internet Explorer, there are several things you can do to minimize risk.

Upgrades

Make sure you have the most updated version of Internet Explorer. Microsoft frequently releases upgrades and security patches that can be added to your existing program to eliminate security glitches as they are discovered. While your browser should be automatically updating itself, this may not be the case. Go to the Microsoft website (See Resources) to check if you have the appropriate updates or use your browser menu to tell the program to update itself. This may eliminate the warning that had appeared because the upgrade may take care of it.

Switch Browsers.

Other web browsers are available that you can use to surf the Internet. Mozilla and Opera are two companies that offer their own web browsers that do not suffer the same security risks as Internet Explorer. Most of these alternative browsers are free to download and use, and can run the same websites as Internet Explorer. See if your new browser has the same issues as your version of Explorer. The warning may only apply to Internet Explorer and the other browsers may not have the same vulnerability.

Internet Explorer Help Options

Having problems with Internet Explorer can be frustrating. Whether the screen freezes, pages are not loading, or you just have slow browsing, troubleshooting problems with IE can be tough. If you need help, though, you have plenty of options to get the support you need. Two of the options below require the use of the Help menu; If you do not see any menus at the top of your browser, right-click under your address bar and select "Menu bar."

While web sophisticates might sneer at it, Internet Explorer is the most commonly used browser in the world, according to Royal Pingdom.

In fact, the race isn't even that close. While Internet Explorer (all versions combined) takes 44 percent of share, Firefox follows with 28 percent, followed by Chrome at 20 percent, with Safari, Opera and others at the bottom. In terms of specific versions, Internet Explorer 8 is the most used, claiming a 28-percent share, compared to Firefox 4.0's 16 percent.

Still, Internet Explorer's lead is a fraction of what it once was. In 2004, before Firefox, IE had close to 95 percent of the market. As competing browsers like Firefox and Chrome has arisen, IE's star has sunk.

Safari, the default browser for Apple products, captured only 5 percent of overall share, but Royal Pingdom notes that Safari for iPad has already shot up to take 0.68 percent of the web, all in just over a year.

Google's Chrome, which is a little under three years old, has shown remarkable growth since its introduction. It currently trails Firefox, and research showns that as Chrome has grown, Firefox has shrunk.

MS Patch Tuesday: Gaping holes haunt Internet Explorer browser

There is plenty of work this month of June for IT administrators - Microsoft’s June Patch Tuesday addresses 34 vulnerabilities in 16 distinct bulletins. Nine of the bulletins carry a maximum severity of “critical”, while the remaining seven are rated as “Important” only.

Plus there are the critical fixes from Adobe Reader and Oracle for Java.

No doubt IT Administrators will have to pick and choose where to act first.

The highest priority Microsoft bulletins should be:

    * MS11-050, which addresses 11 vulnerabilities in Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6,7, 8 and 9.
    * MS11-052, which patches VML, a markup language that is used mainly in Internet Explorer.

Browser and plug-in vulnerabilities together have been the point of entry for many recent security incidents and are the main infection vector for mass malware such as Zeus and SpyEye (for some interesting statistics see this recent StopBadWare report.

The combo MS11-050/052, together with APSB11-016 from Adobe and Java CPU June 2011 is the first highest priority set of vulnerabilities to address this week. That way IT admins will keep ahead of the “ExploitKit” writers and and make their workstation infrastructures more robust.

Second on the list should be MS11-045, which fixes eight vulnerabilities in all versions of Excel including for Mac OS X. Microsoft ranks it only as “Important” because the end user is required to open an attacker-provided file, but we believe that attackers have shown often enough that they have the skills to make opening the file enticing enough for end users, especially with a file format like Excel that is used overwhelmingly for serious, business related communication.

Other high priority bulletins are MS11-042 and MS11-043, which address critical flaws in the SMB and DFS clients on Windows. Strict outbound firewalling will help enterprises in both cases to keep the exposure low, but since the exploit index is a low “1″ for both vulnerabilities, IT admins should schedule them for inclusion into the patch process as soon as possible.

The only bulletin with a known exploit in the wild is MS11-046, a local privilege escalation flaw in the “afd.sys” driver. IT admins can check with their end-point security providers for coverage, but should include this bulletin high on their to-do lists in any case, as it is only a matter of time until we see more attackers use malware taking advantage of this exploit to gain control of your workstations.

In this case, you can reinstall the explorer. But you have to edit the registry to make Windows allow a full reinstallation of it. It is really time-consuming and risky to do the registry editing. Any error in editing registry can potentially cause Windows unable to boot, requiring you to reinstall Windows. What can we do if the reinstallation fails due to that we can not do registry editing properly? Actually, we can be relaxed when our Internet Explorer doesn't work properly, because there are so many standby tools available in the market. They are designed for solve the situations that the Internet Explorer is not working smoothly. Internet Explorer always stays minimised, new windows can not be opened with Internet Explorer hyperlink, and so on.

Microsoft Internet Explorer Vs Google Chrome

Google Chrome is an internet browser similar to the features of Windows Internet Explorer for viewing websites and internet content.

While Internet explorer has been around for over a decade (1995), Google Chrome has been out since 2008. It comes in 3rd vs. Explorer and surpasses Apple's Safari in browser usage statistics†. Google Chrome is really gaining popularity. Is it faster, easier to use, more secure? Let's take a look.

The immediate aspect you will notice the first time you use Chrome is the interface. It looks less cluttered and confusing and has very few buttons in comparison to Internet Explorer. You have the basic home panel to type in website addresses and go forward and back between web page's. Also added are two unique buttons, to the right, that look like a piece of paper and a wrench. You will not see a menu bar at the top as you may expect with many programs. All the tools, properties and functions can be found in the two unique buttons. This can be more convenient then using the File, Edit, View, etc., menu bar of Internet Explorer.

Bookmarking and favorites are two words that mean the same thing. You want to save a website address for future viewing. Don't get confused that Internet Explorer uses favorites and Chrome uses bookmarks, they are one in the same. When you want to bookmark a page in explorer you can hit the "add to favorites" button. In Chrome you can add a bookmark by clicking the star to the left inside the address bar. This is a bit easier to find then somewhere on the task bar. Another little thing you do not need to do with Chrome is remove the pre installed favorites. Not a big deal but nice. Also Adobe has partnered up with Google Chrome, So flash player is built in. This means that you can enjoy YouTube right after your install, without downloading flash player from adobe's website.

In general use, I've noticed that Chrome does open faster than Internet Explorer. This is especially noticeable on slower PCs. Flow from one page to the next seems a bit snappier then Windows Explorer browsing too. All in all, the speed difference is not excessively noticeable on newer systems, but for older PCs you may see better overall browsing performance with Google Chrome.

Both browsers have a few nice features to keep you safe while browsing and downloading. For instance, both check to make sure you want to download a file before it gets downloaded and proclaim the file could be dangerous. They both also include pop up blockers and protection against phishing. A little deeper though and you can see that Internet Explorer supports a few more bells and whistles. For example, the ability to disable, enable, and prompt for most major functions like scripts, and copy and paste. Internet Explorer can also run Direct X. While most users will not need these options they are there. Regardless, to either one you choose, it is wise to have an antivirus and malware program in place. Neither one of these browsers will protect you from a downloaded virus.
