Using Command to Find Out Internet Connecting Problem

If you want to surf in internet but find that you can not connect to network, then how to find out what problem is and then solve it? I will tell you how to.

1. First, make sure that your ADSL modem and ISP account are working; otherwise you should ask your ISP for help. If you connect internet through LAN, then test whether you can connect to the gateway. The gateway is a computer or device which connects LAN to Internet or other LAN. You can use command 'ping' to check, but sometimes the gateway turns off its ICMP response. If it does, you can use command 'arp /a' to see all live dynamic MAC addresses stored in memory after ping. If there is a item which belongs to gateway, that means it can be connected, so the physical link is ok.
2. Second, check your DNS setting. DNS means domain name service. If DNS service does not work, you can not open any website when you type domain in browser. Using command 'nslookup' to check whether DNS server works, type some website domain to see if any IP address return. If it works go to the next step, or you should check you DNS setting. Change your DNS server address or ask for technology support.
3. Finally, use command 'tracert' and the website domain or IP address as command argument to see if the path through your PC to the destination IP address is ok, you can watch each hop information through IP packets transfer. If it stopped in a step, then check route setting about this hop, solve it and check again.

How to Undelete IE History

Trying to undelete your Internet Explorer history in Windows 7 means you must make a difficult decision. Recovering deleted history requires you to perform a system restore. Although this will return your history to what it was as of the backup date, it will also restore all other programs to that same date. You could lose important drivers and downloads, although you will regain your Internet Explorer history. To successfully undelete your history, you must know a date range during which you visited the websites or the date you deleted your history.

Instructions

Save any open work and close all your programs. A system restore will reboot Windows, so any unsaved work will be lost.

Click on your "Start" menu. Select "All Programs," "Accessories" and "System Tools." Click on the "System Restore" icon. Alternatively, click on the "Start" menu and type "System Restore" in the search box. Click on "System Restore" under "Programs."

Click "Next." Select the recommended restore date or choose "Show More Restore Points" to select a different date. The date should be after you visited the websites you want to review but before you deleted the history.

Click "Next, " then "Finish" to begin the system restore. Click "Yes" when asked "Once Started, System Restore Cannot be Interrupted. Do You Want to Continue?" Once the system restore is complete, the computer will automatically reboot and you can search your newly restored Internet Explorer history.

Internet Explorer Security Warning Help

Internet Explorer is a web browser program that is produced by Microsoft. Explorer has become one of the most popular web browsers in the world and as a result, has been the frequent target of hackers. Explorer has had a multitude of security glitches that have been exploited in the past. If you get a warning popping up on your screen regarding Internet Explorer, there are several things you can do to minimize risk.

Upgrades

Make sure you have the most updated version of Internet Explorer. Microsoft frequently releases upgrades and security patches that can be added to your existing program to eliminate security glitches as they are discovered. While your browser should be automatically updating itself, this may not be the case. Go to the Microsoft website (See Resources) to check if you have the appropriate updates or use your browser menu to tell the program to update itself. This may eliminate the warning that had appeared because the upgrade may take care of it.

Switch Browsers.

Other web browsers are available that you can use to surf the Internet. Mozilla and Opera are two companies that offer their own web browsers that do not suffer the same security risks as Internet Explorer. Most of these alternative browsers are free to download and use, and can run the same websites as Internet Explorer. See if your new browser has the same issues as your version of Explorer. The warning may only apply to Internet Explorer and the other browsers may not have the same vulnerability.

The average computer user cannot fix Internet Explorer script errors, but you can avert script errors by changing your Internet Explorer settings.

Instructions

Click on the "Advanced" tab.

Click the box next to "Disable Script Debugging" to turn it on.

Click the box next to "Display a notification about every script error" to turn it off.

Click the "OK" button in the bottom right of that menu.
